If you read book one then you can't miss getting To Have and to Hold so you don't miss a beat in all the drama and excitement that happens to Pastor Maggie and the church. The characters come to life and the author gives her readers a wonderful look into the life of the church. We learn again what a caring and loving ministry the church has not only locally but around the world. Be prepared for a real mystery that takes place--it will keep you reading. Love this inspiring new writer who gives us the life and times of a modern day minister in the heartlands. The characters shine, the plot is believeable and the ending is the biggest surprise of all ! Looking forward to #3.
This is a truly delightful book with characters so well described that they seem to pop right out of the pages. The enjoyable story line had enough twists and turns to keep you very much engaged. The pastor is a very charmingly warm and caring woman with her own minor foibles to make her very real. I am very much looking forward to the next one in the series...
I absolutely love this new book!! The first book was so character driven, it was hard to wait for the new one. It was like going to a family reunion. The new characters are also great. The element of mystery definitely kept me on my toes through out the whole book. Even thought the wait was long, it was totally worth it and now I am eagerly anticipating the third Pastor Maggie book. Good job Ms. Edema!
I love a book that has an engaging plot and endearing characters. This story has it all. Pastor Maggie and her church seem real with the blessings and challenges of life today. I care about them and look forward to book three.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book! I chose the wrong villain so that's why I gave this book 5 stars ... I can usually guess who-done-it! I would recommend this book to anyone and especially to those who love reading series sets as I believe this is #2 of 6. Looking forward to reading what's next for Pastor Maggie and Dr. Jack!! Once again, Paster Maggie gives us insight into our own faith. While we have chosen to have God as our Guiding Light through life, we are reminded we are all human. Pastor Maggie guides us through the human emotions of doubt, fear, pain, dependence, compassion, grief, humor, joy and intense love. We finish the read stronger in our faith, as Dr. Edema shepards us through stages of life bolstered by those we are surrounded by on earth, while knowing it all fits in a Divine plan for ours lives. You will finish the read with a lighter heart and a smile on your face! This is a MUST READ!
If you like Father Brown you will love Pastor Maggie! Not an English Village Parish Mystery but set in small town USA in a church parish with colorful characters, the joys and sadnesses that any church would experience PLUS a mystery to draw you in! Who is pilfering money from the church fund? Who is lurking around the church and parsonage at night dressed in black? Who broke into the church basement and left muddy footprints? Dr. Edema writes creatively from her heart and her experience as a pastor.
